Wegmans has initiated a recall of mixed nuts sold at its stores in nine states and Washington, D.C., the company announced Tuesday. The nuts may contain Salmonella, one of the leading causes of foodborne illness, hospitalizations, and deaths in the U.S. Wegmans did not indicate whether there have been any infections linked to the contaminated nuts.

The recalled items were sold at Wegmans stores, which are located in Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.
